The point being, that trying to swarm out and hiding in sheer numbers is not going to work. Especially now with Finland as a member of Nato. The ports of Russia can be mined - just like that. Of course Nato would not do that..... or would we???
The Russian normally don't sail that much with their submarines, and you can bet your what you want that there will be a nato submarine glued to those vessels under water.

Now the port of Archangelsk is vulnerable: Not only for mining; but also for air attack with Finland getting F-35. The same thing with Sct. Petersburg and Khaleningrad in the Baltic - not to mention Sevastopol in the Black Sea. That vulnerability from mining (It does not take much to put sufficient mines - remotely controlled - you know: Like on a pipeline and the russian submarines will become permanent fixtures on the bottom - like the ferry Estonia - that is now encased in concrete.
